Clean Solar Electricity

Produce your own clean electricity and save money when you install your own Solar Energy System.

What is a solar electric system? With a solar electric system, solar energy falling on a solar electric panel causes an electrical current to flow from that panel.  In a typical situation these panels, called photovoltaic modules, are connected in electrical “strings” to form a solar photovoltaic array.  The amount of electricity produced by an array is, naturally, directly proportional to the size of the array.

What are the benefits of using Solar Energy?
By installing your own Solar Energy System, you will reduce your energy bills, reduce your environmental impact, put excess power in the grid, be prepared for the future and enhance your property value.

By harnessing the suns power you create "green energy" or less black balloons into the environment.

This power can be used for all types of reasons around the home, power for llights and cooking, Hot water systems (which also can be Solar), Heating and Cooling and general power needs.

How much will it save me in energy costs? This depends upon a number of factors:

  • How much energy you use in your home;
  • Your location, which determines the amount of solar radiation;
  • The size of your solar array.

In Melbourne, a solar power system of 1kW capacity will produce approximately 1400 kWh of electricity per annum.  This equates to an average of approximately 3.8 kWh per day.

What if there isn’t enough sun? In a typical residential home, you remain connected to the main power grid and your solar system interacts with it.  At times when you require more power than your solar system is producing, the additional power comes from the mains grid.  The device that controls interaction with the mains grid is a Grid-Connect Inverter.

What is a “feed-in” tariff? When your solar system is producing more power than is being used in your home, the excess power goes into the mains grid (called “feed-in”).  When power is “fed back” to the mains grid, it’s purchased by the power company at a rate based on their “feed-in” tariff.  A feed-in tariff is typically higher than the standard purchase rate.
